From Historic Roots to Contemporary Residences

Príncipe de las Letras is a contemporary collection of serviced residences located in a historic corner building in Madrid’s Barrio de las Letras — a neighbourhood shaped by literature, art and cultural life for centuries.
Originally built in 1900 and carefully rehabilitated in 1935, the building forms part of Madrid’s architectural heritage.

Today, it has been thoughtfully reinterpreted to meet the needs of modern living while preserving its original character and sense of place.

Architecture, interior design and art come together to create spaces defined by calm proportions, noble materials and generous natural light. Each residence reflects a balance between heritage and contemporaneity, offering comfort, privacy and a strong sense of place in the cultural heart of Madrid.

Though each residence has its own layout and atmosphere, all share the same vision: to offer meaningful, design-led living for those seeking more than accommodation — a place that feels considered, authentic and enduring.

Our History

Originally built in 1900 and rehabilitated in 1935, the building that houses Príncipe de las Letras forms part of Madrid’s architectural heritage. Its most recent transformation has been led by Avellanar Inversiones, with architecture by Raúl Martínez Padilla and interior design by Tristán Domecq.

Príncipe de las Letras is not conceived as a hotel, but as a place to live — designed for extended stays, privacy and everyday comfort in one of Madrid’s most culturally significant neighbourhoods.

The project preserves the building’s original structure and proportions while introducing calm, functional interiors defined by noble materials, natural light and subtle organic forms. Curved elements, thoughtful transitions and balanced textures reflect both the history of the building and a contemporary approach to living.
